SUMMARY:March talk - Signing of the Treaty in the south
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Edward Ellison\, Ōtākou kaumātua\, Chair of the New Zealand Conservation Authority\nhttp://www.kahurumanu.co.nz/our-people/edward-ellison/edward-ellison \nTopic: For quite some time there has been  an element of uncertainty about who the Kai Tahu leaders were who signed the Treaty of Waitangi in the southern South Island. Careful research by Edward Ellison\, and others\, has largely cleared up  who these significant people were. Mr Ellison has a most interesting story to tell about the event at Ōtākou in June 1840. \nVenue: Hocken Library\, Seminar Room \nTime: 5.30pm on Wednesday 25th March – preceded by refreshments
